"Iris" : Korea's Best Crime Drama Ever Produced 

As a South Korean espionage television crime drama broadcast by KBS in 2009, with a budget overall exceeding USD $20 million, "Iris" is the most expensive Korean drama ever produced. Its appealing plotline, glamorization of violence, and story of justice overall led to a critical and commercial success, cuminating approximately 40% of the South Korean viewing audience tuning in for its finale.

Also, "Iris" took home many of the highest honors at the 2009 KBS Drama Acting Awards. Lee, Byung-Hun (who played as Hyun-Jun Kim) won the top recognition in the form of the Daesang Award. Lee also won for the Best Actor, and "Iris" itself was awarded Best Drama at the 46th annual Korean PaekSang Arts Awards.

The success of the series has not only led to a feature film and a 2010 spin-off series, but also a sequel series to set to follow in 2011. A follow-up spin-off series is set to be shot in 2010 and aired later in the year has been announced, and the series is to be titled "Athena: Goddess of War."
