The NSS organization is a South Korean National Security System secret organization that defeats enemy that are threats to the country. It is a very secret organization that even both Hyun-Jun and Sa-woo were warned before entering the agency that one cannot trust or depend on anyone else in the organization team, even best friends.

During her chasing of Hyun-Jun, she realizes that there is no reason to return back to her own country, so she sides with Hyun-Jun at that point.
Justice
NSS organization exists to serve its own country; so, obviously, the workers of that organization devote everything into their assigned missions.
Sa-woo, who has been ordered from the organization, feels that he has to fulfill his mission of killing his best friend to keep his justice.
Friendship
(Hyun-Jun and Sa-Woo working out)
Hyun-Jun and Sa-woo have been best friends since their training at the Special Force before becoming NSS agents.Hyun-Jun and Sa-woo relates to each other with great friendship, but Seung-Hee, whom both of them falls in love with, comes into their lives. This causes their friendship to split gradually. Hyun-Jun and Sa-Woo are not aware of each other's feelings toward Seung-Hee growing.

But when Sa-woo finally realizes that Hyun-Jun and Seung-Hee are lovers and they both have mutual feelings to each other, he keeps his own feelings to himself. However, as he starts to think that Hyun-Jun has everything, Sa-Woo gradually distances himself from his friend.
Betrayal
As the main theme introduced “betrayal” by Sa-woo to his best friend Hyun-Jun, this betrayal was caused by lack of trust, strong justice, and split of friendship. Another cause also included was threat from NSS that Seung-Hee will also be exiled from NSS and Sa-woo, not wanting this since he still has feelings for Seung-Hee and wanting to protect her, follows the order right away.
His betrayal to Hyun-Jun later leads to guiltiness since he sees how Seung-Hee is breaking down after Hyun-Jun’s death. Then when he comes to know that Hyun-Jun is alive, he feels that he doesn’t have any gut to face his friend, whom he betrayed.
